Japingka Gallery is a specialist Aboriginal Art gallery located on two floors of an 1880s warehouse building at 47 High Street in Fremantle, Western Australia. Japingka arranges shipping of works to customers in New Zealand.

Japingka's ground floor gallery exhibits a broad cross-section of Aboriginal art from leading artists and regions. The two upstairs galleries present new exhibitions about every 7 weeks from Aboriginal communities and artists.

The Aboriginal people in Australia are part of the oldest continuous living culture in human history.

Traditional Aboriginal culture is based on Dreamtime Law, with spiritual connection, sustainability, and responsibility to care for land and family being at the centre of the culture. Ancient Aboriginal rock art has been traced back 20,000 years and elements of this art are still visible in modern Aboriginal art works.

Directors of Japingka Gallery have 30 years experience working with contemporary Aboriginal artists. Artworks are ethically sourced, and Japingka Gallery is an active member of Art.Trade and the Australian Federal Government’s Indigenous Art Code, which aims to ensure best practice for a sustainable Aboriginal art industry.

Japingka Gallery has a stockroom with over 4000 Aboriginal paintings, and major artists and emerging communities are all well represented. Japingka Gallery is open 7 days in Fremantle, or view all our recent exhibitions and gallery pages online.
