LUURN WILLIE KEW + DESERT MINIATURES OPENING INVITATION

"We been born in the bush. We painting the desert. We been walk all around the bush." - Luurn Willie Kew

Japingka Gallery invites you to the first ever solo exhibition by one of the great Ochre painters of the Kimberley and one of the last custodians of the Kingfisher (Luurn) Dreaming, Luurn Willie Kew. These powerful yet serene natural ochre pigment paintings capture both the spirit and place of the ancient Kingfisher Dreaming Stories in a remote region now known as The Canning Stock Route.

Opening on the same night in Gallery 2, is an exhibition of DESERT MINIATURES - delicate small works form the Anmatyerre and Alyawarr women artists of the Utopia homelands from the Central Desert in the Northern Territory.

Both exhibitions open at 6.30pm Friday, 3rd April and run until 6th May, 2009. Click here for your exhibition invitation.
